Our job
Waxahachie Care is a faith based organization that is not affiliated with any particular church. We are, however, supported with food and monetary donations by over 26 churches in this area. Waxahachie CARE provides counseling/referrals, food, toiletries, and financial assistance. Counseling with clients is designed to ensure an effective delivery of assistance. Food is provided through our in-house food pantry service. Financial assistance, based on availability, is primarily to help with utilities, rent, gas, elderly needs, transportation needs. Bill payment days are Mon, Wed and Thursday 9 to 11:30 and 1:00 to 2 p.m. Please call to find out all the paperwork you need to bring and how many copies of the bills you need.
Financial support for this work comes from individuals, churches, Sunday school classes, local businesses and the United Way of West Ellis County.
Some services we provide in addition to food and utilities:
counseling, budgeting, bikes, community service, volunteerism, special needs of those on disability or over 65, elderly needs, some special medical needs, referrals to other agencies that may be able to help them, food stamp coordinator twice a month, help with paperwork weatherization if TXU and you own your own home, Reliant Energy aide for all of Ellis County, TXU for the south area of Ellis county., Waxahachie Water Fund.
Every dollar you donate to TXU on your electric bill is matched by TXU with $5.00, for a total of $6.00. If you donate $5.00, it is matched by 25.00 for a total of $30.00.
A one time donation of $50.00, or a monthly donation of $50.00 to TXU electric would render us $300.00 for each time. Please consider becoming a partner of Waxahachie Care by joining the TXU campaign, or by donating food and other monetary donations.
PLEASE JOIN OUR COMPAIGN To get our TXU yearly donation up to $100,000. Please donate to TXU every month. It will help you and someone else when you need it. All recepients must be low income and meet texcap guidelines to qualify for help. It is a small amount you can do to help this community.
You can also donate to the Waxahachie Water Fund.
We also need donations of food and nonfood items such as soap and laundry products, shampoos, toothpaste, deodorant and personal-care items, along with toilet tissue, diapers and cleaning products.
FOOD AND MONETARY DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME, needed, and appreciated.
Client hours are:
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wednesday, 9 to 3, Friday 9-12 pm.
We serve the areas of Waxahachie, Sardis, Maypearl, Milford, Italy, part of Avalon, Venus in Ellis Co, Forreston with food. We only have TXU energy money for these areas. However, we have Reliant Energy money for all of Ellis County residents. In 2009 we helped close to 700 families with utility bills and over 1400 families with food.
